The defence at the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, charged within the dying of George Floyd, wrapped up its case Thursday with out placing Chauvin on the stand, presenting a complete of two days of testimony to the prosecution’s two weeks.
Chauvin, 45, knowledgeable the courtroom on the 14th day of trial that he wouldn’t testify, saying he would invoke his Fifth Amendment proper to not take the stand. It would have been the primary time Chauvin publicly instructed his facet of the story.

Closing arguments are set for Monday. Chauvin is on trial on costs of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in reference to the May 25, 2020, dying of Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man.
Floyd died after Chauvin, who’s white, pressed a knee on the again of his neck and again for about 9 minutes as two different officers held him face down on the pavement whereas he was handcuffed.
